Preface

 

   The 2nd Seniors Community Information Exchange Expo was organized by Ward 9 Councillor Martin Reid on June 19, 2025. Golden Maple was honored to be one of more than 50 groups and, for the first time, introduced Golden Maple’s various activity information to the public.

    Under the leadership of President Huang Huiping, and with the support of DBNC volunteer instructor Ms. Li Li, a “Expo Preparation Team” was established in the computer class. The team, composed of three volunteers—Lin Yanxi, Tan Haoning, and Ma Kexin—collected information and edited videos, which were played one by one to the public at the expo, attracting attention from various groups.

    On that day, the video presentation and reception of visitors at the Golden Maple booth were jointly handled by President Huang Huiping, Director Fan Shengbo, and new member Qiu Jianhui. After learning that a video would be played, Councillor Martin Reid specially arranged for the Golden Maple booth to be located near a power source. Councillor Martin Reid visited our team and took a group photo. After the expo, Golden Maple’s information was posted on the Ward 9 information website.

   Since then, many groups have actively contacted us to establish friendly cooperative relationships. Amica Credit Millssaw Golden Maple’s information on the Ward 9 website and proactively reached out. Since August 2025, we have cooperated together and established friendly mutual-support activities. For example, on November 18, they warmly invited 50 Golden Maple members to watch A Gilded Game in their VIP cinema, with popcorn and drinking water provided, as a way to thank Golden Maple for organizing various activities for them.

    This marks a milestone for Golden Maple in stepping into the mainstream community of Mississauga and establishing a new network.
