The 2026 General Membership Meeting of the Golden Maple Chinese Seniors Association Concludes Successfully
On the evening of June 22, 2026, the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Golden Maple Chinese Seniors Association was successfully held via Zoom. Members gathered online to review the Association's work, discuss future initiatives, and chart a course for continued growth. The meeting concluded successfully after completing all agenda items.
Unlike previous years, this year's AGM was held virtually rather than at a physical venue. The online format was chosen with the Association's longtime senior members in mind. Many of them are now advanced in age and are no longer able to attend in-person activities, leaving them with few opportunities to reconnect with fellow members despite their strong desire to do so. Taking advantage of the AGM, members were able to reunite online, renew old friendships, and celebrate the spirit of unity and mutual support embodied in the meeting's theme:
"United in Purpose, Moving Forward Together Toward a New Chapter."
1. The Master of Ceremonies Opens the 2026 Golden Maple Annual General Meeting and Introduces the Meeting Agenda
2. President's Annual Report to the 7th Annual General Meeting
President Helena Huang, on behalf of the Board of Directors, presented the Association's Annual Report. Comprehensive and well-structured, the report highlighted the Association's achievements over the past year in organizational development, cultural and recreational programs, and community service initiatives. It also outlined the Association's future direction and presented the financial report for 2025, providing members with a transparent account of the Association's income and expenditures. The commitment to financial openness and accountability was widely appreciated and received with strong support from the membership.
3. President's Nomination of Candidates for the 7th Board of Directors
The President of the Golden Maple Chinese Seniors Association, on behalf of the Board of Directors, introduced the reasons for recommending the candidates for the Board of Directors and briefly introduced each candidate's achievements and contributions to the Association.
4. Self-Introduction of the Candidates for the 7th Board of Directors and the Election Process
During the candidate speeches, each candidate made careful preparations and shared their thoughts sincerely. They introduced their personal experiences, feelings from participating in Golden Maple activities, and their plans for future work. Their presentations demonstrated their sense of responsibility and commitment to serving members and contributing to the Association, while also giving members confidence in the future development of Golden Maple.
5. Representatives of Each Activity Group Introduce Recent Activity Updates
The presentations by the team representatives were equally wonderful and engaging. Representatives from each team introduced their group's activities, schedules, and locations, warmly inviting Golden Maple members to actively participate and join their teams. Some representatives also shared the gains and joy they experienced through participating in team activities. Their heartfelt sharing expressed the happiness of building friendships, enriching their lives, and realizing personal value within the Golden Maple family. Everyone deeply felt the warmth and strong sense of unity and belonging within the Golden Maple community.

6. The Election Host Announces the Election Results of the Board of Directors
Under the organization of the two election hosts, Xuhui Gao and Zeming Zheng, the voting process proceeded in an orderly manner. Members cast their valuable votes with a fair, impartial, and responsible attitude. After on-site vote counting, all five candidates for the Board of Directors were successfully elected by majority vote as members of the 7th Board of Directors of the Golden Maple Chinese Seniors Association. They will carry the trust and expectations of all members and embark on a new journey of service.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Xuhui Gao and Mr. Zeming Zheng served as election hosts for the first time. After receiving the assignment, they learned while putting it into practice, worked together seamlessly, conducted the voting process smoothly, and efficiently completed their responsibilities as election hosts. Their excellent work received unanimous praise from the members.
7. List of Recognized Members at the 2025–2026 Golden Maple 7th Annual General Meeting
At the Annual General Meeting, the Golden Maple Board of Directors specially recognized 27 outstanding teachers, activity group leaders, and members for their exceptional contributions. The Association expressed its appreciation to the dedicated instructors who have devoted themselves to enriching seniors' activities, the team leaders who have actively organized and guided their groups, and the members who have enthusiastically volunteered their services during various activities.
As a token of appreciation, Golden Maple presented each recognized individual with a Canada Day T-shirt as a meaningful gift in celebration of the upcoming 159th anniversary of Canada Day.
From the members of the Board of Directors to every individual member, everyone shared the same wish — for the successful completion of the Annual General Meeting and for Golden Maple to continue growing stronger and better.
With confidence in the leadership of the new Board of Directors and the collective efforts of all members, the Golden Maple Chinese Seniors Association will continue to unite, strive forward, and work hand in hand to create an even more brilliant new chapter.
